Description
Shown in this circa 1980 postcard are contrasting symbols of transportation, the Pony Express monument, at the intersection of Second and J streets, and a raised Interstate Five. It was decided by the State Highway Commission, in 1963, to run the freeway between Second and Third streets. The Pony Express sculpture was dedicated in 1976.
