Photographic portrait of baby Mary Josephine Potter, the first white child born in Santa Monica, 1876. The baby is at center and is looking slightly to the right. Her hand is uncovered by her blanket at left. She is wearing a long white dress. Her hair is short and dark and appears to be parted at left. There is an arch-shaped cloth behind her, perhaps part of a bassinet or stroller. She was born on May 22, 1876.
