View of corner of a street; in foreground is street; on the right the house on the lot has been torn down; in front of the house stands a tree in a strip of land between the sidewalk and the street; to the left of the lot is another house; in the upper left a water tower can be seen; in front of the curb is parked a car; the leafy branches of another tree can be seen at the upper right.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"Residence of John T. Cardwell, first erected in 1890. Now the present site of the new Motor Vehicle Building. Erected at a cost of $700,000. Completed in 1936."
