Description
Description on back of photo reads: "Commonly referred to as a trap farm is this installation of gas traps, manifolding and flow tanks. A trap farm is a central collecting point for oil and gas production as it comes directly from the wells. The numerous pipe connections and valves in the foreground are the manifolds. For every well producing into this trap farm you see a short piece of vertical pipe in the outer row of the manifolding. The tall cylindrical type tanks behind the manifolds are gas traps, or more properly called gas and oil separators and it is in them that wet vapor gas is separated from the liquid crude oil. After this separation the oil is discharged into the flow tanks where it is measured or gauged. At the same time the wet vapor gas is being discharged from the top of the separators and starting on its journey to the absorption plant where it is processed into liquid gasoline and dry vapor gas. The dry vapor gas is sold to the public utilities companies and transported by them to your mother's kitchen stove."
