Mary Pickford was a Canadian-born silent film actress, famously known as "America's sweetheart," co-founder of American Artists film studio, and one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Photograph caption dated May 10, 1941 reads "Mary Pickford, who spoke before the large group of celebrities is shown at right, with Mrs. Louis B. Mayer, one of the hostesses, at the luncheon." The event, an annual donor's affair to benefit the Junior Auxiliary of the Jewish Home for the Aged, was held at the Ambassador Hotel.
