Letter from John C. Fremont to Dr. John Townsend responding to an inquiry from Dr. Townsend concerning the purchase of Audubon's works. Fremont offers to purchase an available copy for $750.00. The purchase was never completed, perhaps because Dr. Townsend perished from cholera four months later.
