Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of Marchessualt Street in Sonora Town, the first plaza area in Los Angeles, ca.1875. The tree-filled court of the Los Angeles Mission is identified in pen ink in the lower right corner of the image. There is a large building in the center of the image
except for this, all of the buildings are long, low adobe structures. Beyond the tall building, Sonora Town ends and a large forested area sprawls out, covering the top third of the image.
