Title supplied by cataloger.; Originally from the Luther A. Ingersoll Historical Collection. Mary E. Hollister, born in Ohio in 1848, was a wealthy heiress from a prominent ranch family. She married General Phineas Banning in 1870 - two years after Banning's first wife, Rebecca died after giving birth to their eighth child. Mary and Phineas would eventually have three children of their own, three girls: Mary H. Banning (1871), Lucy L. Banning (1873), and Ellen M. Banning (1874). Mrs. Banning passed away in Los Angeles, though the date is unknown. Portrait of Mary E. Hollister Banning (Mrs. Phineas Banning).
