Lucy Byrd Mock was born in Prairie Grove, Arkansas in 1880 to James Edward and Eunice Amanda Mock. Attended the Univerity of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Taught Greek and Latin at Jessamine College, Kentucky and First Park University, St. Louis. Began working for newspapers in St. Louis, then moved into writing for magazines. Wrote poetry under the pseudonym, Le Moqueur (including The Maid of Pend d'Oreille). Spent several years in Ben Lomond, California and Seattle, Washington. Died in 1966 in Arkansas.
