A sailor with a rifle on his shoulder, patrols among the fallen columns and great slabs of masonry in front of the Security Trust and Savings bank, at the corner of Main Street and Compton Avenue. This was one of the places hardest hit by the earthquake. The entire business district of Compton was practically destroyed. Sailors and marines guard the streets of ruined buildings and tragedy that struck so suddenly. Photo dated March 11, 1933.
