Description
Dick Wong's father, Suey Kay Wong (1911-1995) posing with a car probably in the 200 block of Main Street, Watsonville, CA. Suey Kay Wong came to San Francisco in 1946, escaping the famine in Canton, China. He went to Sacramento and on to Watsonville. Dick Wong's grandfather also came from China c.1911; after spending 18 months on Angel Island, he died there. Suey Kay Wong, with several others, started the Daily Meat Market located on the 200 block of Main St. The business grew and later became the Daylite Market on 235 Main St. He retired in 1978. He was married to Chun Yuen Wong and had four children; Jimmy, who was born in China, and came here in 1960, and three who were born in the United States. Date refers to the original created date.
