Description
Oil company executive Leigh Battson was married to Lucy Doheny and living at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills when they commissioned Coate to design a vacation home on Lake Arrowhead. The estate featured steeply sloping roofs which prevented snow from accumulating, and allowed for easier snow removal. Multiple buildings were constructed, including a main house, boat house with dock, entrance gate with guard house, and servants quarters.
