Description
Photograph shows Jackye McClure holding a plaque given to her probably to honor her work on behalf of rape victims. There appears to be an African American gentleman standing next to her and they are both in front of a podium and table. The ribbon on the gentleman's coat reads "Legal Affairs Secretary." Jackye McClure had been raped and called the YWCA's 24 hour rape crisis hotline with questions that the volunteers were unable to answer. She went on to volunteer for the crisis line, organized a speaker's bureau, and in 1979 became the driector of the Rape Crisis, presiding over a tremendous expansion of services.
