Description
Photograph of a drawing of the Mission Carmel (San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo) by Edward Borein, ca.1860. The heavily cross-hatched drawing shows two horsemen poised on a hill in front of the bell tower of the adobe mission atop which a dome is situated. The scene suggest night time, the sky darkened by concentric circles of cross-hatching and a large shadow cast across the scene to the left where a dilapidated portion of the mission is just barely visible, extending from the missions main building at right, which is well-lit in the drawing's anterior side.
