The bridge/tunnel was built as part of the Cahuenga Freeway; it is now known as the Lankershim/101 Freeway Bridge and Tunnel. Photograph dated May 8, 1948 shows the construction of a freeway underpass at Lankershim and Cahuenga boulevards. The project is part of the extension of the Hollywood Freeway connecting Vineland Avenue and the Cahuenga Pass.
