Description
“Heathen feast at Weasisi [Waesisi], Tanna - long feathers in hair.” Exterior view showing a local gathering for a ritual feast. To the left stand mainly female onlookers wearing long skirts made from banana or pandan leaves. Among these is apparently a male missionary. They surround the group of men in the centre who wear ‘nambas’ (a traditional penis sheath from the New Hebrides [Vanuatu]) and long feather headdresses.
