Description: Caption from June 29, 1967 Sacramento Bee reads, "TRAIL WORK BEGINS - A lime spreader, background, leaves a subbase path behind as work begins on a bicycle trail along the American River in Discovery Park. The trail will extend five miles along the river from Discovery Park to a short distance west of the Elvas Freeway. Riders are expected to use the country-constructed trail within two weeks."
