Thought for the day by Charles Handy on how one's negative disposition affects the mood of others, and how it is unfair to others to impose a negative mood onto them. Handy begins the thought discussing his time spent in Kuala Lumpur, where he met his wife, and how the recent forest fires have created a great deal of smog in the area. Handy goes on to use the smog and rain as a metaphor for what needs to take place in personal relationships, where personal smog, as a mood, can pollute one's environment. He discusses the way his wife has influenced him to recognize how his disposition affects others. Handy concludes his thought stating that self-discipline and sacrifice are important in keeping one's environment functioning effectively.
