Shows cities, roads, rivers, mountains, county boundaries, railroads, low areas subject to overflow (wetlands), ferries and routes such as Fremont's route, Walker pass, Lassen route, Oregon Trail, etc. Based on maps done by U.S. Coast Survey Office, U.S. Topographical engineers, George Gibbs, Boundary Commission, J. Moore and N.H. McLean. Includes inset of "San Francisco and adjoining bays". Includes listing of population by county from 1852 census. Library has multiple copies of map: copy 1, original map, uncut, framed and hanging in the Microfilm room (208); copy 2, original, cut into 4 sheets; copy 3, blue line copy, gift of Division of Lands; copy 4, brown line copy in reduced size, gift of Division of Highways; copy 5, blue line copy in reduced size, gift of Division of Highways; copy 6, negative photostat.
