Description
Engraved map, 36.5 x 29 issued by Robert de Vaugondy to illustrate the current views of the geography of the northwest in the supplement to Diderot's Encyclopedie. The set was also issued in a smaller form. Consists of four quadrants, each depicting various cartographers' interpretations and representation of the northeastern spaces between North America and Greenland: Sanson (1650), L'Isle (1700 and 1703), and Henry Ellis (1747). Depicts Hudson, Baffin, and Button Bay, the Davis Strait, the Coast of Labrador, and southern Greenland.
