This statue, dedicated on February 22, 1933, is one of 22 copies cast by the Gorham Company and financed by the Women's Auxiliary of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. The statue was moved to this location after occupying different sites in the immediate vicinity. The pedestal seen here was made from stone salvaged from the old County Courthouse after it was razed in 1936.
