Arrived in Los Angeles in 1911 and with brother Eugene started the Bernheimer Oriental Gardens. In 1921 bought property in Pacific Palisades where built residence modeled after Chinese summer palace (known as Oriental Gardens). Collected Asian art which he put on display in his Pacific Palisades home. Died in 1944 in Los Angeles.
