Description
A camel at the Fort Drum Barracks in Wilmington, military headquarters during the Civil War. The men are wearing Union uniforms. The camel is one of those which Jefferson Davis imported from Arabia in the 1850s for desert freighting. In this photo the camel is being loaded at the warehouse.
