Photograph caption dated May 8, 1957 reads "Charles Francis Brooks, 32, in leather jacket, is booked at Van Nuys Police Station on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon by Det. Sid Riegel after Brooks allegedly stabbed his mother, Mrs. Laura H. Brooks, 54, three times with a paring knife. She was in fair condition today."
