Description: Image of the monument to Battery D of the 1st New York Light Artillery, Artillery Brigade, Third Corps. Monument consists of a large block finished on the front, rough hewn on the sides. On the front is a wheel, behind which are crossed ramrods, and on either side cannon. The photograph has been affixed to a card with the photographer's signature and "Gettysburg, Pa." printed in gold lettering at the bottom.
Also known as Winslow’s Battery. One of the numerous monuments erected on the Gettysburg battlefield to honor the soldiers who fought and died in this decisive battle.

Provenance: Lindsey M. Gould, a Civil War veteran, acquired the photographs in the 1880s as a keepsake of his war experience. At Mr. Gould’s death around 1919, the entire collection went to his close friend Herbert W. Singleton. The collection remained in the Singleton family until May 2001 when the Huntington Library acquired it through a gift and purchase arrangement.
