"The Needles" are a group of granite rock formations located within the Sequoia National Forest near Johnsondale and just east of the Great Western Divide Highway.
Photograph caption dated December 3, 1956 partially reads, "The Needles...familiar landmark to hunters in Johnsondale area, rises 8,200 feet. Area is site of extensive lumbering operations."; See images #00146631 through #00146637 for all photos in this series.
