Description
Photograph of the Angeles Crest Highway and the La Cañada School House, ca.1892. The narrow road cuts across the image from the foreground at right before disappearing into the distance at center. The land through which it runs is divided into agricultural fields of varying size. The La Cañada school house is in the distance at extreme right, and the San Gabriel Mountains run across the image in the background. The road leading across the Crescenta-Cañada Valley into the San Gabriel Mountains was named Haskell Street in 1892. Forty years later it was rebuilt as the Angeles Crest Highway.
