Description
Photograph of a close-up view of the Boundary Oak in the northeast corner of Griffith Park, showing the hole in which the boundary records of three ranches were deposited, ca.1926. The thick trunk of the tree is at center and a large round hole is visible near the base of the trunk. The trunk is covered in cracked light-colored bark, and a short stick with a cloth on the end is nailed to the tree at right. The ground around the tree is covered in fallen leaves, and there is grass visible in the background. The three ranches whose records were deposited in the tree were Los Feliz, San Rafael, and Provedencia.
