Between the Sept. 1944 and April 1945, the U.S. Government contracted with the State of California, State Printing Office to number, cut and wrap Japanese military currency. This invasion currency consisted of sen and yen notes and was printed by Stecher-Traung Lithograph Company in San Francisco. Operation was known as Operation Toy Horse. In 1944, State Printing Office set up project to document operations with photographs, to be gathered into book form.
