"1ste kuld i fransk fra 1894-1896" ("First class in French from 1894-1896"). Teachers and students at the Ambatovinaky school, Antananarivo. The school was run by NMS. Sitting from left: Ramalanjona also called Ramala, Samoela, Rajaobelona. Sitting in the middle from left: David Jakobsen, Lisebeth Godal, Benjamin Escande, Christian Borchgrevin. Benjamin Escande was a French teacher from the MPF (Mission Protestante Francaise) mission in Paris, France. He was later killed in an ambush together with Paul Minault also a French missionary.
