Note: Als Nr. 31 publiziert im Album 'Achtzig Ansichten von der Goldküste (Westafrika) nach Originalaufnahmen des Missionars Fritz Ramseyer', Neuenburg 1895. Note translation: Published as no 31 in the album 'Achtzig Ansichten von der Goldküste (Westafrika) nach Originalaufnahmen des Missionars Fritz Ramseyer', Neuchâtel 1895. (RI). - Caption there: "A plantain tree. The fruit hanging high on the tree is not a normal banana, which can be eaten raw when ripe. They are the longer bananas known as plantains, which are boiled before they are quite ripe and pounded in mortars to dough. These clumps of dough are what people here call fufu, which is eaten with a very peppery soup."
