View of burro packtrain leaving Sutter's Fort for the opening celebration of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge on November 12, 1936. Men seen are Jake Pfosi, Sr., M.E. Reed, and Jake Pfosi, Jr. A Sutter's Fort bastion and cannons are seen in the background. Photograph was taken on November 7, 1936. Also have negatives: 2009-1059, no. 3492a (4 x 5 in.); 2009-1060, no. 3492b (4 x 5 in.) Sacramento's contribution to the celebration of the opening of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was the Progress of Transportation Pageant. The Pageant consisted of a different form of transportation leaving Sutter's Fort each day, traveling to San Francisco for the opening. Pageant was sponsored by the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.
