Description
Mt. Tamalpais and Muir Woods Railway train and passengers cars crossing a trestle bridge. The orientation of passengers and the engineer showcases the way in which the Railway's engines were positioned at the end of the train, pushing passenger cars up the mountain. This was done for a few reasons, including that it eliminated the possibility of runaway passenger cars and redirected the smoke and soot from the engine away from passengers.
