Kirkpatrick Catalogue entry: "2449 [Owen, W.F.W.] West coast of Africa ... Fernando Po to Cape Lopez, surveyed by Captain W.F.W. Owen, R.N., 1826, and Captain A. T. E. Vidal and Lieutenant Bedford 1836-1838. London, Admiralty, Hydrographic Office, 1841. 1 sheet. [see cabinet]." Map covers the coast of modern Equatorial Guinea, as well as portions of Cameroon and Gabon. Probably acquired while Burton was British consul at Fernando Po, from 1861 to 1864. MS notes: Burton (map cabinet0 Owen West coast 2449. Prime meridian: GM. Relief: hachures. Projection: Cylindrical. Printing Process: Lithography.
