In order to adapt Cavalli's setting of Minato's libretto "maggiormente al genio corrente è stato necessario di ridurlo à qualche brevità, ed accrescerlo nelle canzoni, nondimeno vi scorgerai in esso interamente la nobilità dell idea del suo autore, ne lo vederai punto variato dall'essere suo primiero"--p. 5-6.
