Photograph (ca. 1935) shows some of the more than 1500 men and women who jammed the Labor temple at the opening of the three-day, state-wide EPIC (End Poverty in California) movement convention. Delegates arrived from all over California for the meeting, as well as representatives of the Commonwealth party of Washington. EPIC leaders stated thet the purpose of the meeting was to democratize and stabilize the EPIC movement by allowing workers in the ranks to choose the members of the board of directors of the End Poverty League. The EPIC movement was founded by Upton Sinclair.
