Description
1989-1241. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 25. A view of the corner of a large building - six windows wide and 14 windows long; below the second story with all the windows are small individual businesses; on the corner first floor is a store with a "Coca-Cola" sign on both sides; further down the long side of the building is a business with a large awning which shades the street; on the right side of the large building is a small two story building, cropped by the photo; a street lamp stands near the corner with two men, one sitting on a fire hydrant, talking; on the left side are groups of men by another street lamp. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Second bank bldg. of the D.O. Mills, erected about 1865...They remained until 1912.
