The report includes the cover letter for a 1944 report on Watershed Conditions of Western Merced and Stanislaus counties prepared for the State Board of Forestry; a 1944 report by Assistant Fire Chief W. D. Winters that assesses the fire risk and agricultural irrigation of West Merced and Stanislaus counties; a 1944 letter to O. S. Ball from Engineer W. F. Woolley that reveals the origin of water of wells between Newman and Westley; the cover letter for the type map; a 1944 study of watershed value of the East Hamilton Block with emphasis on West Merced and West Stanislaus counties which includes drainage and topography maps and statistics on water quality and run-off; a 1944 report on water in the canals of the San Joaquin and Kings Rivers, and Irrigation Company in Merced County, as well as statistics on water available for firefighting and irrigation for agriculture; and a map of the vegetative types of the counties of (and areas around) San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, and Fresno.
