Photograph shows Francis Laino, whose wife was killed in an automobile accident. Mrs. Bea D'Antoni, 28, was at the wheel of her stalled car as her friend, Mrs. Florence Purvis Laino, 37, helped push it out of the intersection at Santa Monica Blvd. and Vermont Ave. Tragically, Mrs. Laino was crushed to death shortly after midnight by Basil Stadnik, 43, who claimed his brakes failed. Stadnik was arrested and held on suspicion of manslaughter. Photograph dated November 21, 1947.
