Description
An army soldier boards two girls into a helicopter in the department of Caban?as, a major guerrilla stronghold in El Salvador. The girls were found in an area occupied earlier by guerrillas, near San Isidro, 60 miles east from the capital. The girls are sitting inside the helicopter, ready to be flown back to capital and have not eaten anything in two days. The man sitting inside the helicopter is wearing large sunglasses. His uniform has a patch that reads "Mojica" which is his last name and another one on his right arm that reads "FAS," which identifies him as a pilot of the Salvadoran Air Force. An estimated 8,000 people disappeared during El Salvador’s 1980-1992 Civil War, including thousands of children. Many of them were separated from their parents and entrusted to corrupt adoption agencies that placed children in homes in other countries.
