Description
A circa 1942 photo of the North Sacramento Viaduct, later known as North 16th street, being constructed. The viaduct was a continuous concrete structure built over the American River in an effort to connect North Sacramento to Sacramento proper. Construction started on the bridge in early July 1941 and was officially opened for use September fourteenth of 1942. While $847,440 were earmarked for the project, the viaduct only ended up costing $528,000.
