Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Opened on June 10, 1938, by the Hollywood Turf Club, Hollywood Park was renamed Betfair Hollywood Park on March 13, 2012. It was a thoroughbred and standardbred race course. The racetrack was closed after the final race on December 22, 2013. Photograph caption dated July 1, 1964 reads "Co-owner Fritz Hawn explains to his South African star Colorado King that he should assume the holiday habit for tomorrow's $50,000 added American Handicap, the July 4 feature of the day at Hollywood Park. 'The King' leads the list of top entrants in the nine-furlong stakes race."
