Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on August 12, 1969 states: "Interstate 880, which will bypass downtown Sacramento, is taking form. These two views give a progress report. In the top picture (6977) the scene is looking southwest with the River Road to Woodland in the foreground. The piers will support the approaches to the bridge over the Sacramento River at Bryte Bend. The lower (subject) photo is looking northeast over the Sacramento River showing the piers which will carry the twin spans over the river. The traffic will bypass the city and intercept Interstate 80 south of McClellan Air Force Base. Note the man, arrow, to give comparative size."
