Description
Photograph. "Jail cells made of glass -- Prisoners in the jail at the new Los Angeles city police administration building glance out the window at the scenery through the glas windows which make up one side of the cells. The glass is unbreakable, so, the police hope, there's no chance of escape. The glass sides face a hallway, to permit easier supervision of prisoners by the 120 jailers. The jail's 'drunk tank' has rubber floors, so inmates won't hurt themselves when falling.." -- typed Associated Press note attached to verso by stf-erb, dated 12 September 1955.
