Saldoha Leprosy Colony, Mohulpahari, Santal Parganas, North India, December 1983. The Danish Sa Saldoha Spedalskhedskoloni, Mohulpahari, Santal Parganas, Nordindien, december 1983. Eli Bøgh havde sit arbejde her fra 1922-26 + 1931-33. (Stedet er senere overdraget til Den Internationale Spedalskhedsmission/TLMI)

Description
Saldoha Leprosy Colony, Mohulpahari, Santal Parganas, North India, December 1983. The Danish Santal Mission was planning to start leprosy work, and Missionary, Engineer Eli Bøgh was called to this service. In 1923 he was ready to receive the first patients at a new Leprosy Colony in Saldoha. Until present, leprosy work had been according to ‘the asylum principle', but Eli Bøgh wanted patients to live in an ordinary village with work according to ability, having community council, etc. And the colony developed to a model institution with farming and gardening activities as part of the therapy, and as a contribution to the economy, as well. Together with his brother, Missionary Doctor, Boe Bojesen Bøgh, he founded a hospital as the centre of the colony. Eli Bøgh worked in Saldoha from 1922-26 + 1931-33. (Later the colony is handed over to the International Leprosy Mission/TLMI).
