Description
This is the second American edition of Willich's Encyclopedia. The first was 1804. Gabler does not list this work, but he should have because it contains a lengthy, very early essay on the grapevines of the U.S. by William Bartram. [See Hedrick's Grapes of New York, pages 42-43] William Prince later published this essay in his 1830 Treatise. Vines are covered on pages 413-437, and Wines are discussed on pages 495 to 499. This second edition seems to have more information on these subjects than the first.
