Description
The Streamline Moderne style Hollywood Park, built in 1937, was located at 1050 South Prairie Avenue in Inglewood. It was designed by architect Stiles O. Clements and landscape architect Edward Huntsman-Trout. Later additions to the park were designed by Fred Barlow, Jr. In 2012, the property was renamed Betfair Hollywood Park. The park closed in May, 2013 and development of a football stadium complex began in October, 2016.
Photograph caption dated November 6, 1959 reads "Widower Creed, winner of the American Pacing Classic in 1957, and second in the same race last year, is the chief threat to Sunbelle for top honors in this year's renewal of the $75,000 race at Hollywood Park. Howard Beissinger will drive Widower Creed in the second leg of the big race tomorrow." The racetrack is in Inglewood.
