Description
The Kawai family, with Toichiro Kawai (born Japan 1860 - died United States 1943) in the center, wearing a checked jacket, and Hama Ishiwatari (born Japan 1873 - died United States 1956) on the left, wearing a long coat over her dress. A young woman stands between and slightly behind them, while six children, five boys and one girl, stand on the right, arranged by height. Mr. Kawai worked for Huntington and moved the Japanese house from the Marsh Japanese garden. He also was hired to build the bridge, Torii gates, and bell tower.
