Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Valley Times photographers Jon Woods and George Brich were covering the fire when they became part of the story. They were the first to reach a young girl who had succumbed to smoke inhalation and call for help.
Photograph caption dated July 6, 1960 reads, "Unidentified fireman carries smoke victim, Lois Clark, 14, to waiting vehicle that took her to Valley Receiving Hospital during 40-acre brush fire action.
