Presidential Candidate Ángel Aníbal Guevara's wife stands before a microphone before she speaks in front of a crowd of people during a campaign rally in Guatemala City. Guevara (right) of his wife sits next to his running mate Ramiro Ponce Monroy and Ponce's wife. On March 8, 1982 he won the presidential election although electoral fraud was claimed by other parties. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt.
